In drydock at Norfolk Navy Yard, 22 March 1942, STERETT was fitted with six 20mmAA guns, four K-guns, and a SC search radar. May 19-21, 1989 – Sailors gather on the decks of the US Navy (USN) Guided Missile Frigate USS RODNEY M. DAVIS (FFG 60) and the USN Guided Missile Cruiser USS STERETT (CG 31) for welcoming festivities during which members of the Chinese navy will tour the vessels. The ships are docked at Shanghai during a four-day US naval goodwill visit to the historic city.

140923-N-TG831-061 PACIFIC OCEAN (Sep. 23, 2014) The Arleigh Burke-class guided-missile destroyers USS Sterett (DDG 104), front, and USS Dewey (DDG 105) maneuver into formation during the conclusion of Valiant Shield 2014. Valiant Shield is a U.S.-only exercise integrating U.S. Navy, Air Force, Army, and Marine Corps assets, offering real-world joint operational experience to develop capabilities that provide a full range of options to defend U.S. interests and those of its allies and partners. DDG-104 operates with the USS WASP (LHD 1) Expeditionary Strike Group (ESG) 7. Wasp successfully embarked, maintained, and supported near-daily flight operations of the F-35B Lightning II in that span, part of a first-ever operational deployment of the U.S. Marine Corp’s fifth-generation stealth jet.
Somewhere in the Sulu Sea 15 July 2020, DDG-104 unveils the new battle flag in C7F. This 30×40 foot flag pays homage to the fighting spirit of DD 407 and the ability to get back into the fight, no matter the damage taken. The torch with flames refers to our warship’s call sign, “Battle Torch.” (CDR Andrew Koy pictured).
