The bow is the forward most part of the ship. Sterett's two anchors were located here. A standard anchor located amidships and a lighter Danforth anchor on the starboard side. The anchor windlass's are on the bow as well as the controls for the windlass's. Also here are ventilation shafts, firefighting hose conections and a hatch that lead doen to the bo'sun's locker located one deck below. Also located one deck below was the main emergency generator which was gas turbine powered.
